Why Emotional Overload Weakens Your Energetic & Spiritual Defenses (And How to Reclaim Your Sovereignty)
When life feels out of control, the first thing you need to do is focus on re-claiming control of yourself.
Why? When you are under intense stress that feels unmanageable, you don’t just face emotional exhaustion, you also become energetically and spiritually compromised. Just as you can’t handle one more emotional upheaval, your energy field can’t handle one more problem because it too is weakened.
But there are some simple energy, spiritual and emotional tools that you can use to stop this. I am going to share the six most common energy and spiritual problems that come from intense times. Plus, ways to stop each of those from happening.
Damage Auric Field
Your aura or energy shield becomes worn down, torn or even completely removed as it works to protect you. This depletion of your aura comes from your own emotions and from other people’s energy and intentions.
The more damaged it is, the easier it is for others’ energy to attach to you, and it is easier to pick up possessing beings. This is an energetic wound that can bring in spiritual wounds, while at the same time creating more energy problems.
The best way to fix this is to visualize yourself repairing it. How you visualize the repair is up to you. There is no right or wrong. If you don’t have any ideas, ask your guides what they recommend.
My aura healing visualization is to imagine putting an ointment, like Vaseline, all around the outside of my aura. As I do this, I visualize it fills in any tears or gaps. After I do that, I put blessing field energy into my aura to help maintain me and it.
I recommend that during intense times you do this once a day. When life is more stable you can do it weekly. My routine is to do it at night right before bed, so that my sleep is better.
Create Your Own Curses and Thoughtforms
When we experience hard times, it is easy to be hard on ourselves. We end up being critical and judgmental to ourselves. This can lead to us creating our own curses and thoughtforms. Before we get into how to stop this, let’s cover what curses are and aren’t.
Curses aren’t always created like you see them in the movies; they don’t always require some form of magic. Instead, they can be created from pure emotion. Pure emotion creates thoughts, and those thoughts put on repeat with your intense emotions can create a curse. Those emotions and thoughts can be directed at other people or at yourself.
For example, you have an argument with your boss, and it causes you to be taken off your passion project. You may struggle with self-judgement that you should have handled the conversation better. You begin to ruminate on it telling yourself that you are bad at communicating. Overtime the more energy you put into this creates a limiting belief, then the continued power and energy moves it to a thoughtform and finally a curse.
The way to avoid this is to work on self-compassion and releasing judgment of yourself. Emotional healing work will help you control the intense emotions and thoughts you direct towards yourself and help you learn to forgive yourself.
Attract Negative Beings to Yourself
When life feels out of control and you can’t deal with every emotion and situation that comes to you, your negative energy can attract possessing beings to you.
A possessing being is something from non-ordinary reality (that which we can’t see) that attaches to you or your home to gain energy to sustain themselves.
When a being is looking for a person to attach to, one way they choose who to attach to is if they have similar energy to you. So, if you’re struggling and you’re creating excess negative energy you may attract unhealthy beings.
For example, if an alcoholic passes away and does not cross over, they begin wandering and eventually they need an energy fuel source to keep going. Because they are looking for similar energies to their own, they might be hanging out at a bar.
You’re going through a tough time, so you and your friends go to the bar to try and unwind. That being sees your energy, sees you drinking, and attaches to you.
So how do you handle this one? This requires multi-tools.
Acknowledge and Deal with Your Emotions
Emotional healing is hands down one of the best things that you can do to spiritually and energetically protect yourself. The more you have control over emotions, have healed old wounds and worked on self-love the harder it is for any being to attach to you.
They look for a place they can easily attach, and the more healing work you do the fewer places there are for them to attach to you.
Regular Energy & Spiritual Clearing
It’s important to be intentional in clearing yourself energetically and spiritually after you have gone into places that might have other negative energies. While you can find them anywhere, there are some locations that have more. For example, bars and hospitals are two places that have the most wandering beings.
The best way to clear is to do an energy recall and return, then ask your guides to clear anything following you. You can add this to your nighttime routine and do it right before you repair your aura. In the resources section, I do have a Reiki infused meditation to help with this.
You may find that even with doing this you may pick up a being that your guides can’t clear. This happens when they become entangled with you and either don’t want to leave, or your guides don’t want to harm you as it is removed. In this case, you will need the assistance of a spiritual healer.
Before we move to the next issues, I do want to share that possessing beings are more common than uncommon. We just don’t talk about it in our culture. When I did my level 1 compassionate depossession, it was the very first thing that my teacher, Betsy Bergstrom, made clear.
If you pick up a possession it does not mean you are broken. It does not mean you are doing something wrong. When life is hard, when we feel like we have no control, it creates emotional overload and this makes us more susceptible to spiritual attack. This is normal.
Become Ungrounded
The next one is you can become ungrounded. When life is chaotic you might not have time to do your normal self-care routines, you can become disconnected from Mother Earth and yourself. This can make it hard to feel connected to others, yourself and your emotions. Putting you in an emotional spiral that is hard to break. Which in turn, can amplify the other things on this list.
The easiest way to handle making sure you are grounded is to make sure you are making time for self-care. And during your self-care time to add grounding practices to it. For example, you can do a grounding meditation or do your morning ritual outside or take a nature walk.
Someone Else Sends You Spiritual Wounds
The final thing that can happen has less to do with your own emotions and more with anyone who may be impacted by what is going on in your life. For example, if you are going through a divorce, your ex may end up directing negative spiritual energies too you.
It is the same dynamics of creating curses on yourself. The other person will have their own repeated intense emotions. Which can create curses or stronger energy cords.
While you can’t control how others react to hard times because you can’t control their thoughts and feelings towards you. You can do a few things to protect yourself from this spiritual attack and things you can do to try to be as calm and centered as possible in your communications.
Let’s start with your communications, for this I recommend you use The Four Agreements as a guide to how to approach the situation and the other person. Consider it your textbook to relationships and how to respond and present communication. You can also use The Mastery of Love to help you get over break-ups or difficult relationships. As for protecting yourself you can visualize a white light around you that only lets in positive energy. Then around that white light you can visualize mirrors around you that are pointing away from you. The mirrors will let the negative energy they’re sending bounce off and not attach to you.
Final Thoughts
You may need to do more energy and spiritual work during difficult life events. There is simply too much to process emotionally that can’t be done in a day, a week or even a month. While you do the healing that will help prevent these things from happening, tending your energy is critical to minimizing the lasting spiritual impacts.
When I go through anything difficult, I make sure I am doubling down on all my energy tending and will schedule extra clearings from the practitioner that I go to.
