How to Clear Distractions and Find Focus with Goddess Brigid
Welcome to this week’s spiritual insight. Today I want to share with you some guidance that I received from Goddess Brigid on how to remove life’s distractions so you can focus and see solutions easier.
I channeled this information one morning when I was struggling to find solutions to a problem that I had been having for a while. And I was fighting to stay focused on trying to solve it.
In short – I was scattered and stuck.
I asked for help and she gave me insights into why we get distracted, what it blocks and then shared tools to overcome it. Let’s dive in and see what she had to say.

Goddess Brigid’s Advice
She started by saying, “if you are distracted by the noise, you will miss the important parts.”
With that, she gave me a visual of my attention being drawn to multiple areas. As I tried to concentrate, distractions surrounded me: I was multitasking, background noise filled the air, and my mind raced with thoughts, all of this was pulling my attention away from what mattered.
Ultimately, our modern busy life blocks us from being able to gain valuable insights that come from quiet and solitude.
Then she also said that the important parts might not be anything that you expect.
If you were like me your mind probably went to time with family and friends or tending your health as the important parts. But she wanted to remind us that the important parts can also be the messages from spirit that they’re sending on a regular basis that get lost in the noise. There are many times our guides are trying to communicate, but we’re not slowing down enough to pay attention.
It can also be a chance encounter with someone that you can gain wisdom from. The example she used was you’re out shopping and you stop to chat with somebody that you don’t know. And from this you get the piece of information that you need. It’s the synchronicities you want but can’t get from overwhelm.
It can also be clear signs that you need tending either spiritually, physically, energetically or emotionally. If everything stays busy, you can miss the signs that you are at the edge of burnout, or maybe that you’re angry.
She finished the insights portion by saying: if you keep running non-stop, the subtleties of life are going to pass you by. And that the answers in life don’t lie in doing more, but in slowing down.
Goddess Brigid’s Exercises
She gave me two exercises to help calm enough to help you focus and see past the distractions.
Calm & Center: Follow the Beating of Your Heart
When you’re feeling that sensation of overwhelm, and there’s just too much coming towards you, she says to stop and tune in to the beating of your own heart.
If you can, close your eyes and let everything else slide away. Drop your attention to any external noises and only focus on your heart. If your thoughts start to drift in, slow them down by refocusing on your heart. You can make this easier by placing your hand on your heart.
As you do this, you will become calmer. When you feel like the energy has settled enough that you can focus, then open your eyes. When you open your eyes take time to notice your environment. Is there anything that appears differently? Is there something that stands out that you didn’t see before?
After you have done this, ask yourself: “What can I take away from these insights?”
My First Experience Doing the Heart Exercise
The first time that I tried this, there were many times I had to bring my attention back to my heart. But I kept repeating the process and eventually became calm. I found that it was important to keep my hand on my heart as it was a quick centering point.
Once I was calm and opened my eyes, I immediately noticed that there was more light in my room.
That morning, my curtains had fallen down when I tried to open them. And I could not handle dealing with them first thing in the morning, so I left them there. While doing the rest of my morning routine I did not notice how much more light was coming in. Yet, with the new sense of calm I became aware of the extra light.
As I looked around the room with that extra light, I immediately could see things that made me question why it was there. And that allowed me to easily move stuff that was causing visual clutter.
At the same time, I saw some of the artwork on my wall that I had stopped paying attention to. And had a new appreciation for how pretty it was.
Using Goddess Brigid’s question of ‘what do you take away from the insight that you got?’ I turned that into a journal prompt question and asked myself, what in my life am I not shining the light on? Where am I seeing things from a clouded perspective? And those helped me uncover where I was struggling with the problem I was solving.
Journal Prompts to Help You Eliminate Distractions
The second exercise was some questions around how to clear out some of the excess distractions in your day, both temporarily and on a permanent basis.
Can you turn down the TV and the music?
Sometimes we have those on because we like background noise. But depending on what’s going on in our life and what you are trying to do – the music can be too much.
Loud music might be great for your workout. But if you’re trying to journal and process information, it can distract you from it. Getting the volume right can improve your ability to handle what you are trying to focus on.
Can you close the door to outside chatter?
You look at this in two different ways.
You could do it literally. Is there a door open where somebody else is talking that if you shut it, it helps you.
At the same time, you can take it more metaphorically. Is there something in your life that if you shut it out, that chatter goes away and helps you? For example, let’s pretend that you have a parent who is constantly chirping in your ear about what they think you should do. Can you release that information that they’re giving you to better take control of your stuff?
Can you cancel an appointment that isn’t critical?
Sometimes we just need to clear space in our schedule. Is there anything that isn’t a top priority that can be taken off your schedule or at least postponed while you regroup.
Can you delegate something to others that will free up more time for you?
Can you get the kids to clean the bathroom? Can your spouse pick up dinner? Can you hire someone to walk the dog?
A great way to approach this is to ask yourself: what is on my schedule that someone else could easily do instead?
Can I make this permanent?
Take everything that you got from answering the questions above and then go back through it and ask: can I make this permanent?
For example, if you delegated a task, is that a task that can be permanently delegated to open more free time for you?
How I did the journal prompts:
As I journaled through the information that came through the heart exercise and these prompts, I frequently used the heart exercise again if I became distracted. Or if I noticed I was stuck in old thought patterns.
This helped me stay calm and keep distractions away. Plus, as a bonus this also helped me connect with my spirit guides because my mind became a blank slate and I could hear them. So, don’t be afraid to use the heart exercise as many times as you need.
Slowing down is a sacred act in a world that demands we keep running. As Goddess Brigid reminds us, the answers aren’t found in doing more, but in the stillness of your own rhythm. By tuning into your heart and clearing the day’s clutter, you create a ‘blank slate’ for the divine whispers of your guides to finally be heard. I invite you to return to your heart as many times as you need today. As the anxiety fades and the distractions fall away, you’ll find you aren’t just solving a problem — you’re making room for the light to come in.
