Handing Over Control to Your Spirit Guides & Source

One of the hardest parts of your spiritual journey is letting go—releasing the human need to control every aspect or detail and wanting to know the exact path. Letting go allows your spirit team and higher source to guide you and bring you what you’re supposed to have.

Holding on too tightly and trying to stay in control often only makes things more difficult. I speak from personal experience on this; I am reminded daily that I need to let go and remember that I don’t have to do everything.

If I let go, my spirit team can guide me. They can bring me what I’m asking for. When we micromanage our spirit team, it just makes it harder for them to do their jobs. Even if you are taking action on what they told you to do, you still need to release attachment to outcomes—to release control over exactly how you think it should manifest.

Again, I know this is hard. We tend to think, “Well, my guides told me to write a book and now it’s doing nothing.” We assume that book was supposed to be a giant success or get instant results as a runaway bestseller. After all, our guides told us to do this — why wouldn’t it work perfectly?

But in reality, that book writing might have been part of the journey and not the destination. It might be something that’s actually going to have a major impact on you in ten years—not today. From the human perspective, we can’t always see exactly what the results should be right away. Many times, it is only years later that we understand how an action impacted our lives. Instead, we need to trust and let go of the need to control every aspect and see instant results.

Now, how do we do this when we get overwhelmed by human emotions, expectations, and mindset? How do we actually trust and turn control over to our spirit guides and source?

Here are three ways you can release the need to control:

How to Let Go Of Resistance to Letting Go

Look for Answers in the Body

The first insight is from Archangel Michael: a lot of times we’re blocked and overwhelmed because of our physical body. We can’t let go because our bodies are holding tension, anxiety, and the “need to know.” This creates unease and the urge to control everything. By releasing our body’s tension, we can better trust and let go.

I did an entire video on YouTube walking you through the exercise he gave me to see what your body is holding. Besides what Archangel Michael shared, you can also do a body scan meditation where you relax each muscle group as you scan, allowing you to fully relax and let go of what your body is holding.

Release Expectations

Another thing we can do is release expectations about how things are “supposed” to happen. We must let go of what happens after we take an action. I know this is hard; I am personally very programmed for goal setting—to set a target and work until I hit it.

We are trained this way in our culture: you set a goal and work hard to achieve it, plotting out every aspect of what needs to be done and by when. All so we can predictably get what we want.

And you know what happens when we do that? Our guides watch on with amusement, like a parent watching a toddler try to tie their shoes — knowing we will eventually get there, but it might take a bit longer than we want. They will step in and help when we give them the space to do it.

Does this mean we stop setting goals? No! They serve a very useful purpose. Without them it is easy to get distracted.

This is where releasing expectations comes in. We release the need to have something happen at the exact moment or in the exact way we planned.

Remember that when we take action, we have one set of perspectives and skills; by the time we finish, we are different and the world is different.  That new perspective may be what we actually needed—not the “success” itself. Or that experience was setting you up for something bigger a few years from now.

For example, I recently struggled with this. I was frustrated with the speed of my personal soul healing journey. (I have had a lot to do in this life!)  My guides’ response was: “You’re looking ten years down the road. We’re looking lifetimes down the road.”

I know it doesn’t make it easier, but when we release our narrow expectations, we can finally receive what our soul truly needs.

Build Relationship with Your Source & Spirit Guides

Just like you have a relationship with a partner, sibling, or friend, you need to develop one with your spiritual team. It is hard to let go of control when you haven’t built up enough trust. Would you hand over control of your life to someone you just met an hour ago? Hopefully, you said no!

Instead, you work to build a relationship of trust and understanding through experience and connection. When you have built this up, it is easier to accept when they say “not yet” or “it is time to pivot again.”

One way to do this is to keep an intuition log. This allows you to learn your own intuitive language while tracking how often their guidance proves trustworthy. This trust-building takes time while you are honing your communication gifts. Allow this to unfold naturally.

Why it is Important to Trust Yourself First

With all of that said, the final point is to remember you have free will and full control over what you do. If they recommend something and it doesn’t sit well with you, don’t do it. You are the final decision-maker.

While they can see things we don’t, we know what it is like to be human. They are focused on ensuring we achieve our incarnation plans, no matter what. We are often focused on achieving them with as little pain as possible. These can sometimes be at odds.

So ultimately, remember: it is your life. While turning over control will allow things to flow easier, you are the one living it.

    Trust yourself.

Relinquishing control isn’t about becoming a passive observer in your own life; it’s about moving from a place of friction to a place of flow. When you stop trying to force the “how” and “when,” you create the space for miracles that your human mind couldn’t even imagine.

Take a deep breath today and pick one area where you’ve been gripping the wheel too tightly. Offer it up, trust the process, and remember that you are supported every step of the way.

You’ve got this, and so do they.
